Iron ore spot prices in China decreased sharply on 20 Jun’22 as weak demand weighed on iron ore prices. Benchmark Fe 62% fines prices moved down by $9.80/t to $112.35/t CFR China. Heavy rainfall in southern China led to a drop in demand and falling steel prices and negative operating margins pushed Chinese blast furnace utilisation rates lower, as mills took the opportunity to go on maintenance.
