Amid a sharp rise in power demand in China, the government has called upon top producers to guarantee thermal coal supply to some industrial units such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian. Miners in Shanxi have been asked to prioritise 47.7 mnt of supply to seven provinces between May-Dec, wherein they will be allowed to sell coal at the maximum price cap of 1.5 times of NDRC’s price cap of RMB 570-770/t.
