China: Finished Steel Exports Surge 8% in May’17

China – world’s largest steel exporter has noticed increase of 8% M-o-M in its finished steel exports to 6.98 MnT in May’17 as compared to Apr’17. Nation’s finished steel exports stood at 6.49 MnT in Apr’17.

However on yearly basis, China’s finished steel exports have shown the drastic decline of 26 % in May’17 against previous year.In May’16 nation’s steel exports stood at 9.42 MnT.

During Jan-May’17 China’s finished steel exports stood at 34.2 MnT,down by whooping 26% against 46.32 MnT in the similar time-frame of previous year.

Chinese steel exports moved up in May’17 despite falling decline in export offers –
Chinese export volumes moved up despite decline in HRC export offers. Chinese HRC export offers dipped down to 4% in May’17 to USD 433/MT FoB China as compared to Apr’17. In Apr’17 HRC export offers was assessed at USD 451/MT,FoB basis.

China owns the highest crude steel production of 807.28 MnT in 2016 and expected to increase to 825 MnT in 2017. Out of which 87% will be served in domestic market.
