China’s finished steel export volumes stood at 5.67 mn t in Jul’21, down by 12% m-o-m as against 6.45 mn t a month ago, as per General Administration of Customs, China. The volumes were impacted by a shift in preference of importers due to:
- Removal of export rebate on 146 products including finished steel
- Expectations of levy of export tax.
However, on an annual basis, the export volumes rose by 36% against 4.18 mn t in Jul’20.
