China’s ferrous scrap imports totalled 15,631 t in Mar’24, marking a significant jump from a mere 7,387 t reported in Feb’24. However, on an annualised basis, imports registered a 10% decline as against 17,428 t in Mar’23. Japan remained the leading exporter at 7,346 t followed by Myanmar and South Korea at 3,084 t and 2,880 t, respectively. Cumulative imports in Jan-Mar’24, aggregated to 45,823 t, down by 27% against 63,072 t in the CPLY.
