China: Ferrous scrap imports jump over 200%, m-o-m, in July

  • China’s ferrous scrap imports stood at 43,427 t in Jul’22 vis-a-vis 14,423 t in June, a humongous increase of 202% m-o-m, as per SteelMint data.
  • Japan continued to be the major exporter at 35,122 t, followed by South Korea and Myanmar at 5,556 t and 1,069 t respectively.
  • However, on a y-o-y basis, imports plunged by 51% as against 88,178 t in Jul’21.
