China: Ferro Chrome import offers fall amid weak demand

Import offers for Ferro Chrome in China fell this week on prolonged
weak global demand and lower Chinese domestic prices.

Offers of Indian-origin high carbon Ferro Chrome (6-8% C, 58-60%
Cr) into China were indicated lower at 83-85 cents/lb CFR this week, compared
with 84-86 cents/lb CFR a week ago, according to market sources in China.

While, Traders in China said domestic high carbon Ferro Chrome
(50% Cr) prices were stable at Yuan 7,000-7,200 ($1,110-1,142)/mt, or equivalent
to 82-83 cents/lb, this week.

A Shanghai-based trader said: “We received offers from
Indian traders this week at around 84 cents/lb but we are not buying as we can
secure enough supply in the domestic market at lower prices.” The market has
been slow as demand from China’s stainless mills has shown no signs of picking
up, the trader added.
