China emerges as second leading export destination for South African coal

At 0.23 mn t of imports, China emerged as South Africa’s second leading thermal coal export destination in the week ending 30 May’21, CoalMint’s data reveals. India topped the list at 0.64 mn t whereas Pakistan came in third at 0.11 mn t. China has emerged as a key export destination for South Africa after the altered trade dynamics between China and Australia contributed to the S.African thermal coal API4 index surging to $108/t, FoB levels, against $95/t a month ago.
