Most of the Chinese steel mills are expected to keep their HRC prices for August unchanged in line with the decision of Baosteel and Wuhan Steel
Offers for commercial grades of boron-bearing hot rolled coil have been around $680/MT fob in recent weeks. “Most producers are still offering HRC at $680 fob except for some quoting a little lower to attract business,” said a major trader in Shanghai. There are enquiries from Vietnam and India, but their bid price remains too low to be viable at the moment. Chinese domestic prices have seen a small rise over the past two weeks. Commercial grades of hot rolled coil of 5-12mm thickness are trading in the Shanghai market at 4,770-4,800 yuan ($737-741) per tonne, up by 80 yuan from two weeks ago.
