Coking coal prices in China have risen by RMB 150/t ($22/t) with the same assessed in Shanxi province at RMB 3,250/t ($483/t)as on 13 Jun’22. The reason behind the hike is strong restocking demand from steel mills after easing of Covid-induced lockdowns. While downstream demand continues to remain sluggish, supply constraints and restocking needs have pushed up coking coal prices.
