China coking coal prices fall by RMB 270/t ($40/t) amid subdued demand

China’s coking coal prices continued to fall amid lower demand from met coke producers. Weak downstream steel demand even after the lifting of Covid restrictions in June and need-based coke purchases is weighing on coking coal prices. In Inner Mongolia, Wuhai, coking coal prices are currently assessed at RMB 2,350/t ($350/t) on 28 June’22, a fall of 270/t ($40/t) w-o-w.
