China’s coking coal import stood at 6.84 mnt in Sep’22 up by 7% m-o-m, highest for the year. Imports from Russia rose highest by 30% m-o-m and from Mongolia by 12% m-o-m. The imports increased especially due to cheaper availability of coal from Russia and reduced domestic supply to curb pollution due to a political event scheduled in October.
