China coking coal imports rise by 9% in June despite weak demand

China’s coking coal imports increased by 9% m-o-m in Jun’22 to 4.98 mnt. Increased shipments from Russia and Mongolia attributed to the rise in overall imports. Despite China’s weak demand for coking coal, imports rose as traders were drawn to discounted Russian cargoes while imports from Mongolia rose as Covid restrictions eased.
