China’s raw coal production in May’22 stood at 370 mnt, up by 2% m-o-m. This marginal improvement was the result of the country’s efforts to increase domestic production to reduce dependence on imports. In addition, the country strives to avoid coal crisis that was seen last year. In January-May 2022, raw coal output was recorded at 1,812 mnt, an increase of 10% y-o-y.
