China: Coal Import witnessed an increment in July

Owing to improved steel production, prompted plants to import more and so the coking coal import has increased to 25% from the last month to 5.8 MnT.

After 2 months of falling in coal shipments, China's coal imports, step up 26% in July from the May month. It has been learnt that on account of drop in international coal prices's, has guided buyers to increase Australian coal to maintain inventory as per seasonal demand.

China imported around 22.7 MnT of coal (excluding lignite) in July, whereas in May China has imported around 18 MnT coal.

The improved steel production has also geared up the import of coking coal. China's daily crude steel output averaged 2.1MnT in the first 10 days of August, which is 3% up from the previous 10 days period.

Australian coal was majorly imported, which rose from 3.6 MnT to 8.5 MnT, in almost for three-quarter. Indonesian coal import rose around 1 MnT and total imported around 5.3 MnT in July.
