China: Billet, rebar prices soften amid weak demand, falling raw material costs

  • Chinese billet prices slipped by RMB 30/t ($4/t) d-o-d to RMB 2,940/t ($413/t), while SHFE Jan’26 rebar futures fell RMB 9/t ($1/t) to RMB 3,050/t ($429/t).
  • Iron ore and coking coal prices declined, leading to lower cost support. Soft demand pushed mills to cut export bases by $5/t and divert volumes locally. Consequently, billet export prices eased by $2/t d-o-d.
