China’s Baihetan hydropower station has commenced full operation on December 20 after its ninth unit completed the 72-hour final trial run on 19 December. The station consists of 16 hydro-generating units each with 1GW capacity. Since inception the station has generated 53TWh of clean electricity. The projects transmit electricity from southwestern provinces to energy-consuming provinces in east.
