The newly elected Australian Labour Party is in talks with Chinese officials to ease trade restrictions on coal, as per market reports. While China continues to import iron ore and LNG from Australia, its coal imports were stopped in H2 2020 amid political tensions between the two countries. Australia had been among the top two coal exporting destinations for China contributing to 35-40% in total imports till 2019.
