Centre plans to clarify all doubts of participants related to third round of coal block auction to be held in Aug’15 prior to auction; calls a conference on Monday.
Indian coal ministry is all set to to conduct third round of coal auction with 10 coal blocks on offer in coming August. Specifically, this tranche of coal block auction is designed for steel, cement and captive power plant. The 10 mines selected are reported to have an extractable reserve of about 356 MnT.
In an effort to carry on the auction smoothly, centre has organized a meet on Monday to explain all the policies and procedure of the auction. According to sources, representatives from coal ministry and steel & power ministry will entertain all queries and doubts of the participants.
Last date of submission of bid is 21 July’15. The auction will be conducted between 11 to 17 Aug’15.
It should be noted that the government had already put 42 coal blocks in prior auction namely schedule II & III. However, 10 out of the total blocks were exempted from auction on the ground of pending lawsuits and low response of participants. 32 blocks were auctioned and allotted to participants. These 10 leftover blocks are to be put up in current auction.
