Canada’s ferrous scrap exports fall 11% m-o-m in Aug’24

In Aug’24, Canada’s ferrous scrap exports totalled 339,410 t, down 11% from 383,483 t in Jul’24.
Exports fell 11% compared to Aug’23 (381,647 t).
In 8MCY’24, total scrap exports dropped 9% to 2.86 mnt from 3.14 mnt in the CPLY.
In Aug’24, the US accounted (262,617 t) for over 77% of Canada’s exports, followed by India and Taiwan. Canada’s overall merchandise exports dropped 1% m-o-m amid a 3% m-o-m decline in energy exports, particularly crude oil (-4.1%).
