According to the trade statistics released by Canadian Customs, Canada, the 5th largest iron ore export has exported around 4.17 MnT iron ore in Aug’16 .
Iron ore exports have registered a growth of 23% M-o-M as exports were around 3.39 MnT in Jul’16. On similar lines, Canadian iron ore export has increased significantly by 20.5% Y-o-Y basis.
In the first eight months of 2016, the country exported 27.02 MnT iron ore, up by 13% as it was 23.9 MnT in the same consecutive period last year.
In Aug’16, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were registered at 1.12 MnT, down by 22.7% as it was 1.45 MnT in Jul’16. However, exports fell down slightly by 0.8% as it was 1.13 MnT in Aug’15.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 3.05 MnT in Aug’16, significantly up by 57% as it was 1.94 MnT in Jul’16. However, in Aug’15, non-agglomerated iron ore exports was registered at 2.34 MnT.
- China, the largest iron ore importer of Canadian iron ore, imported 1.72 MnT iron ore against 0.36 MnT in Jul’16. The nation imported 1.12 MnT in the month of Aug’15.
- Japan, the second-largest iron ore importer has imported 0.50 MnT in the month of Aug’16, up by 25% as it was 0.40 MnT in Jul’16. The nation imported 0.44 MnT iron ore in Aug’15.
- UAE turned out to be the 3rd largest iron ore importer and imported first-time iron ore from Canada. In Aug’16,the country imported 0.37 MnT iron ore.
- Belgium, the 4th largest iron ore importer of Canadian iron ore has imported around 0.33 MnT in Aug’16, up by 6.4% as compared to 0.31 MnT in Jul’16. However, on a Y-o-Y basis, imports rose by 1.6% as it was 0.16 MnT in the month of Aug’15.
