Cambodia exported 630,319 metric tonnes of milled rice to 64 countries during January-June 2026, an increase of 63.8% year-on-year (y-o-y), generating $367.1 million in export earnings, according to the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).
ASEAN accounts for largest volume of Cambodia’s rice exports
ASEAN accounted for the largest volume of Cambodia’s milled rice exports at 228,780 metric tonnes during January-June 2026. However, these shipments were valued at a comparatively lower $98.9 million.
Europe, comprising 32 countries, recorded the highest export value for Cambodia at $121.7 million from shipments of 179,828 metric tonnes. Meanwhile, China and its autonomous regions purchased 170,483 metric tonnes of Cambodian rice valued at $99.7 million.
Additionally, 24 countries across Africa, the Middle East and other regions imported 51,228 tonnes of Cambodian rice worth $46.8 million during the period.
Fragrant rice accounts for 59.8% of Cambodia’s exports
Fragrant rice accounted for 59.8% of Cambodia’s total milled rice exports during January-June 2026, followed by white rice at 22.6%, broken rice at 14.4%, parboiled rice at 1.8% and organic rice at 1.2%.
Besides milled rice, Cambodia exported 2.8 million tonnes of paddy rice across its borders during January-June 2026, valued at $597.8 million, according to CRF.
Cambodia’s H1 exports reach 67% of 2025 full-year volume
Cambodia’s milled rice exports of 630,319 tonnes during January-June 2026 were equivalent to 67% of the country’s full-year export volume of 940,321 metric tonnes recorded in 2025. In 2025, Cambodia’s milled rice exports increased 46% y-o-y, while export revenue rose 22.7% y-o-y to $602.41 million.
In terms of rice varieties, fragrant rice accounted for 64.02% of Cambodia’s total milled rice exports in 2025, followed by broken rice at 18.56%, white rice at 13.71%, parboiled rice at 2%, organic rice at 1.32% and other types of rice at 0.39%.
Outlook
Cambodia’s rice exports are expected to remain steady, with ASEAN, Europe and China continuing as major destinations. Fragrant rice is expected to remain Cambodia’s largest exported rice variety, based on its share of total shipments during the first half of 2026.
