Brazil, the world’s second-largest Pig iron exporter, has exported about 0.14 MnT Pig iron in August 2017, according to trade statistics released by Brazilian customs.
The exports have registered a fall of 39.13% M-o-M & Y-o-Y in Aug’17 against 0.23 MnT in Jul’17 & Aug’16. In the month of Aug’17, Netherlands has imported approximately 35% (50,000 MT) Pig iron from Brazil.
Further, in the first 8 months of CY17 (Jan-Aug’17), Pig iron exports declined marginally by 4.69% to 1.42 MnT against 1.49 MnT in same preceding CY16.
Prior to this, in CY 2016 (Jan-Dec) the pig iron export was around 2.18 MnT & in CY 2015 at 2.75 MnT.
Country wise exports:
The largest importer of Brazilian Pig iron during Aug’17 was Netherlands (0.05 MnT), followed by United States (0.04 MnT), Taiwan (0.02 MnT) & Argentina (0.02 MnT).
In the month, the major export were from the ports of Vitoria (0.07 MnT), Rio De Janeiro (0.05 MnT) & Corumba (0.02 MnT).
In the total pig iron exports during CY 2017 (Jan-Aug), the favorable export destination of Brazilian pig iron was – United States (42.73%), Netherlands(16.18%), Italy (11.77%), Taiwan (9.24%) & Mexico (8.99%).
In context to export prices, the fresh export offers for basic grade pig iron are reported at USD 370/MT FOB Brazil & USD 360/MT FOB India.
