Leading global iron ore miner Vale SA expects its high-grade pellet production to pick up pace in 2021 and reach previous levels of 50-60 mn t/year by 2022, with mine ramp ups and continued strong seaborne demand. Sufficient production of pellet feed was constrained as a result of the disruption due to the Brumadinho dam tragedy in 2019. Vale’s pellet output dropped to 29.7 mn t in 2020, down 29% against 2019, with sales down 28% at 31.2 mn t.
