Brazil – world’s 2nd-largest Semi finished steel exporter, has exported about 592,656 MT slab in July 2018, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.
In the month of July’18, the exports have declined by 27.30% M-o-M to 592,656 MT in July against 815,241 MT in Jun’18. However on yearly premises it increased 5.09% Y-o-Y against 563,901 MT in Jul’17.
In the total slab exports during CY18 (Jan-Jul), the most favorable export destination of Brazilian slab was – United States (1,975,014 MT), Turkey (396,922 MT), Germany (295,812 MnT) & Dominican Republic (237,942 MT).
Country-wise Brazil slab exports – During July 2018, United States has imported approximately 56% (333,684 MT) slab, decline by 46% M-o-M against 617370 MT in Jun’18. And the other largest importer of Brazilian originated slab was Turkey, however no major slab exports were recorded from Brazil in Jul’18 as against 40,265 MT in Jun’18.
Further it was also come in line that, no major slab exports to Mexico, Poland, Argentina & Colombia was seen in Jul’18 as against Jun’18.
Brazil slab export prices fell in July – Brazil slab export prices narrowed downwards through out the month of July amid decline in global offers. Overseas buyers must have preferred low priced slab from CIS nations resulting in lesser Brazil slab export volumes.
— In the month of June 2018, the crude steel production of Brazil was around 2.59 MnT and in CY18 (Jan-Jun) it was approximately 16.86 MnT. Meanwhile, in CY17 the figure of crude steel production stood at 34.40 MnT, & 30.21 MnT in CY16, according to the World Steel Association.
— Brazil Iron ore & pellet export incline by 1.95% M-o-M in Jul’18 & stood at 36 MnT as against 35.31 MnT in Jun’18 on improved demand of high grade Brazilian iron ore from Chinese mills
— As per our last assessment, the current export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet were at USD 495-505/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 480-490/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 530-540/MT FoB China.
