Brazil Pig Iron Exports Up by 44% in July 2017

Brazil, the world’s second-largest Pig iron exporter, has exported about 0.23 MnT Pig iron in July 2017, according to trade statistics released by Brazilian customs.

The exports have registered a gain of 43.75% M-o-M in July’17 against 0.16 MnT in June’17.

However, on Y-o-Y in July 2017 exports registered a downfall of 8% against 0.25 MnT in July 2016. Further, in the first 7 months of CY 2017 (Jan-Jul), the country’s total export for Pig iron was at 1.28 MnT against same duration in preceding year at 1.26 MnT.

Prior to this, in CY 2016 (Jan-Dec) the pig iron export was around 2.18 MnT & in CY 2015 at 2.75 MnT.

Country wise exports:

The largest importer of Brazilian Pig iron during July 2017 was United States (0.15 MnT), followed by Mexico (0.04 MnT), Italy (0.02 MnT) & Netherland (0.01 MnT).

In the month, the major export were from the ports of Vitoria (0.08 MnT), Sao Luis (0.07 MnT), Rio De Janeiro (0.06 MnT) & Corumba (0.01 MnT),

In the total pig iron exports during CY 2017 (Jan-July), the favorable export destination of Brazilian pig iron was – United States (44.31%), Netherlands(14.35%), Italy (12.60%), Mexico (9.98%) & Taiwan (8.79%).

In context to export prices, the fresh export offers for basic grade pig iron are reported at USD 340-350/MT FOB Brazil.
