Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that the country has exported around 35.26 MnT iron ore in Oct’17 up by 18% Y-o-Y as it was 30 MnT in Oct’16. Brazil iron ore exports were up by 10% M-o-M against 31.93 MnT in Sept’17.
Vale’s iron ore exports up 8% M-o-M in Oct’17 – According to data provided by Inchcape Shipping Services, Brazil, – the country exported 34.85 MnT iron ore via sea route. Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exported around 84% of iron ore via sea route of the total Brazil exports.
In Oct’17, Vale’s export has increased by 8% to 30.26 MnT iron ore via sea route against 28.1 MnT in Sept’17. Other major exporting companies in Oct’17 were CSN (2.7 MnT), Anglo American (1.57 MnT).

China’s iron ore imports from Brazil fell 8% in Oct’17 – China, the largest iron ore importer of Brazilian iron ore imported around 57% (19.7 MnT) of total Brazilian iron ore exports in Oct’17 via sea route, followed by Japan ( 2.8 MnT), Malaysia (2 MnT), Netherland (1.9MnT) and others. China’s iron ore imports from Brazil have fallen on monthly premises as it was 21.4 MnT in Sept’17, while that of Netherland and Malasiya witnessed increased.
Port wise Brazil iron ore exports in Oct’17 – Ponta Da Madeira accounted for 47% share in Oct’17 Brazil iron ore exports to 16.55 MnT. Other major ports for Brazilian iron ore exports share were Tubarao port 26% and Guaiba port 10%. Iron ore exports from Tubarao port decreased 6% to 8.99 MnT in Oct’17 compared to 9.57 MnT in Sept’17.
