Brazil's iron ore exports totaled 153 MnT in January-July, down from 161 MnT in the same period last year, according to national iron ore and base metals association Sinferbase.
Sinferbase's associated companies include mining giant Vale and its affiliates Itabrasco, Nibrasco, Hispanobras and Kobrasco; pellet maker Samarco, a 50:50 JV with BHP Billiton; resource group Anglo American and local iron ore miner MMX.
Of total iron ore shipments in January- July, Vale accounted for 137 MnT and Samarco, 12 MnT.
Pellet exports in the first seven months totaled 26.3MnT, down from 29.9 MnT in the same period last year.
Domestic iron ore sales in January-July declined to 14.6MnT from 17MnT year-on-year. Vale sold 12.9 MnT, followed by MMX with 1.4 MnT and Samarco with 297,000 MT.
