Brazil: Billet Exports Analysis, July 2017

Billet exports from the Brazil grew around 30,000 MT (6%) M-o-M in July 2017. The nation is one of the largest exporter from South America for Semis products like Billet & Pig iron.

As per the data released by the Brazilian Customs, the country has exported around 0.56 MnT billet during July’17 against 0.53 MnT in June’17.

Coming to total exports in CY2017 (Jan-July), the data shows about 4.25 MnT billet exports, surged by 22.12% against 3.48 MnT in the same preceding CY2016.

Further, on yearly calculation the billet exports were reported around 6.25 MnT in CY2016 & at 6.9 MnT in CY2015.

With rising steel demand globally, the crude steel production of country was marked at 31.275 MnT in 2016. Meanwhile, in 2017 (Jan’17-Jun’17) the figure of crude steel production stood at 16.723 MnT.

Country wise:

During July 2017, the largest importer of Brazilian originated billet was United States (0.21 MnT), Mexico (0.09 MnT), Indonesia (0.09 MnT) & Argentina (0.07 MnT).

In the month, the major export of Billets were from the ports of Vitoria (0.33 MnT), Pecem (0.18) & Rio De Janeiro (0.06 MnT).

In the total billet exports during CY 2017 (Jan-July), the favourable export destination of Brazilian billet was – United States (1.54 MnT), Mexico (0.41 MnT), Argentina (0.31 MnT), Turkey (0.27 MnT) & Germany (0.27 MnT).
