Taiwan’s billet import plunged by 15% M-o-M in Apr’18, country’s custom data reported.
The nation has imported about 0.28 MnT Billet in the month of Apr’18 against 0.33 MnT in Mar’18, decline by 15.15% M-o-M. Prior to this, the billet imports rise by 39% M-o-M in Mar’18. While, on yearly basis in Apr’18 imports rise by 7.69% against 0.26 MnT in Apr’17.
Further in the month of Apr’18, no major Billet imports were recorded from Iran to Taiwan, while it remains 0.05 MnT in the last month. Billet imports from Russia also decline by 33.33% M-o-M & stood at 0.04 MnT in Apr’18.
Considering calender year 2018 (Jan-Apr), the imports fall by 4.38% to 1.09 MnT against same preceding CY17 at 1.14 MnT.
Japan remained in the top list of billet imports (Jan-Apr) in Taiwan with an contribution of about 0.58 MnT (53.46%); followed by Russia 0.24 MnT (22.48%), United Arab Emirates 0.11 MnT (9.81%) & Vietnam 0.06 MnT (5.08%).
As per the SteelMint’s assessment in April 2018, the crude steel production of Taiwan was around 1.66 MnT and in CY18 (Jan-Apr) it was approximately 7.43 MnT. Prior to this it was at 7.33 MnT in CY17 in the same duration.
