India’s sponge iron prices witnessed a sharp rise of INR 200-500/tonne (t) d-o-d across major regions, led by Raigarh. Trade volumes expanded significantly, with total bookings at 28,150 t, marking an increase of nearly 68% d-o-d.
BigMint’s billet index jumped by INR 450/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 36,850/t exw-Raipur. The PDRI-to-billet spread for standalone induction furnaces in Raipur was assessed at INR 13,300/t.
BigMint’s domestic end-cutting scrap index, tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market, increased by INR 300/tonne (t) to INR 34,200/t DAP.
