India’s sponge iron prices showed mixed trends, increasing by INR 50-100/tonne (t) across most locations. However, prices in Chennai, Mandi Gobindgarh, and Rourkela declined by INR 50-300/t. PDRI prices were assessed at INR 24,300-27,500/t at the close of trading, while CDRI stood at INR 26,850-31,800/t.
BigMint’s billet index remained unchanged at INR 41,000/tonne (t) exw-Raipur, as the market saw subdued activity on weak demand.
BigMint’s domestic end-cutting scrap index, tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market, improved marginally by INR 200/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 37,500/t DAP on 24 April 2025, as semi-finished steel prices inched up amid moderate market sentiments.
