Bhubaneswar: The expansion work of Bhushan Steel(BSL) at Maremunduli of Dhenkanal District of Odisha is expected to be completed this year. After expansion the capacity will be increased to 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from the existing 3 mtpa, according to company sources.
The company has already invested 25 thousand crore in its Odisha project.
The expansion work is being executed with technological support from Sumitomo Metals and mining (SMM) of Japan. Through this collaboration Bhushan Steel will utilise the expertise of the Japanese steel giant for producing high quality value added steel.
Besides the 6mtpa steel plant, the company is setting up a 12 MTPY Iron Ore Beneficiation Plant in the District of Keonjhar, an Iron Ore Slurry Pipe line of 138 km to be laid from Nayagarh to Meramandali Integrated Steel Plant. BSL is also setting up a 4.0 mtpa Pelletisation plant at Nayagarh and village Jalpaposi in Keonjhar district.
Apart from this the company is in the process of setting up a SME Steel park at Angul.
“We are setting up a ‘Bhushan SME Steel Park’ to develop Down Steam Industries and ancillary units. The project has been already approved by the HLCA and Land Acquisition is in progress†a senior official of the company said.
The company is setting up a 2000 MW thermal Power Plant (IPP) at village Ghantigadia in the District ofAngul with a capital investment of Rs. 8600 crores by associate company M/s. Bhushan Energy Limited. The company has already signed an MoU with Govt. of Odisha and Land Acquisition is in progress.
