Bhushan Steel: Iron Ore & Pellet Sourcing Plunge 21% in Oct’19

Bhushan Steel – a major integrated steel maker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore & pellet sourcing at 0.32 MnT in Oct’19. The sourcing dropped 21% as against 0.41 MnT in Sep’19.

Bhushan steel total iron ore sourcing for the month stood at 0.31 MnT, down 24% against 0.41 MnT in Sep’19.

Tata Steel supplies dropped significantly by 13% for the month to 0.27 MnT as against 0.31 MnT a month ago.

State owned miner- OMC supplied 34,505 MT iron ore to the steel maker in Oct’19, down 9% as compared to 37,798 MT in Sep’19.

Sourcing from Indrani Patnaik, Serajuddin and Patnaik Minerals dropped to nil for the month.

Serajuddin miners increased iron ore lump offers from 11th Nov’19. Miner has increased prices for 5-18 mm (Fe 63%) by INR 300/MT to INR 3,700/MT (ex-mines, including Royalty, DMF, & NMET) as against last offers at INR 3,400/MT (ex-mines, GST extra).

Bhushan Steel pellet sourcing up sharply in Oct’19

The pellet sourcing by the steel maker has picked up significantly to 15,400 MT in Oct’19, as against 3,850 MT a month ago.

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
