BHP Billiton Iron Ore Production Slightly Up in H1 FY17 Y-o-Y

BHP Billiton the third largest iron ore producer has recently released its operational review for H1 FY17. According to the report, the miner produced 118 MnT iron ore during first half of FY17.

BHP Billiton’s Q2 FY17 iron ore production grew up by 3.4% as compared to Q1 FY17. In Q1 FY17, the company’s production remained at 58 MnT. However, the iron ore production in first half of 2016 moved up by 0.5% as it was 117.6 MnT in first half of 2015.

For Australian FY17, the miner maintains it production guidance between 228 and 237 MnT iron ore excluding production at Samarco.

On the other hand, the Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) output is recorded at 136 MnT in first half of FY17. The output increased by 4% Y-o-Y as it was 131 MnT during same time period a year earlier. In Q2 FY17, production from WAIO remained at 70 MnT. The miner maintains its production guidance of WAIO between 265 and 275 MnT for FY17.

Samarco’s mining operation remained suspended following the dam disruption occurred in early Nov’15.
