Bharat Steel 2026: A defining platform for global steel cooperation

  • Companies from over 15 countries will come together at event
  • Dedicated reverse buyer-seller meet will enable B2B engagements

The steel sector continues to be a cornerstone of economic growth worldwide, shaped by innovation, scale, and collaboration across borders. As India steadily advances towards a steelmaking capacity of 300 million tonnes by 2030 and an ambitious 500 million tonnes by 2047, it is emerging as a key driver of the global steel value chain. These milestones position India not only as a major producer but also as a strategic partner for investments, technology exchange, and sustainable industrial growth.

In this context, the Ministry of Steel is organising Bharat Steel 2026, a flagship international Conference-cum-Exhibition on 16-17 April 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Bharat Steel will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, technology providers, and startups to collectively reimagine the future of the steel ecosystem and global cooperation.

The conference agenda will focus on expanding steel consumption, strengthening raw material security, accelerating technological innovation, promoting sustainability, and enabling investments for capacity expansion. Discussions will cover future-defining themes such as green steel ecosystems, sustainability and decarbonisation, raw material security, value-added steel, infrastructure and mobility, and the transition towards a circular steel economy. Together, these focus areas reflect the industry’s response to climate imperatives, evolving trade dynamics, and the growing demand for high-quality and specialty steels.

To deepen engagement and encourage outcome-oriented dialogue, Bharat Steel 2026 will feature a series of structured interactions, including Country Roundtable Conferences, CEO Roundtables, and State Roundtables and Plenary Sessions. These platforms are designed to facilitate focused discussions on policy frameworks, investment opportunities, regional strengths, and cross-border collaboration.

A dedicated Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet will further enable structured B2B engagements, helping companies explore partnerships, market access, and long-term commercial relationships across the steel value chain.

Bharat Steel 2026 will also place strong emphasis on sustainability and value-chain integration. Experts and industry leaders will deliberate on decarbonising the steel sector through responsible mining practices, recycling frameworks, and the adoption of low-carbon technologies while ensuring competitiveness and profitability. Equal attention will be given to the secondary steel sector, which remains critical to India’s steel ecosystem.

Innovation will be a key driver of the discussions, with startups, scale-ups, and technology providers showcasing solutions that improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and optimise resource use. Specialised sessions will highlight value-added and speciality steels, including stainless and advanced grades that are increasingly essential for renewable energy, defence, advanced manufacturing, and urban infrastructure.

The event will see participation from leading public and private sector companies such as Steel Authority of India (SAIL), NMDC, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, AM/NS India, Adani Group, and global majors such as BHP, along with many others, who will exhibit their best technologies, products, and solutions.

With confirmed participation from companies and delegates across more than 15 countries including Russia, Australia, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, and several others; Bharat Steel 2026 will serve as a vital convergence point for global stakeholders. As the world’s second-largest steel producer, India is uniquely positioned to shape the next phase of global steel growth, and Bharat Steel 2026 will strongly position the country as a partner of choice in building a resilient, sustainable, and future-ready steel industry.
