Bar and Rod Production Uptick by 0.2% in Sept’15 – Steel Ministry

India’s bar and rod production recorded at 5 MnT during Apr-Sept’15.

India’s bar and rod production by intergrated steel producers like RINL, SAIL, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel, has moved up slightly by 0.2% in Sept’15 compared to previous month, according to monthly data released by JPC-Steel Ministry.

As per JPC, production of bar and rod during Apr-Sept’15 has crossed the figure of 5 MnT.

Indian primary long steel producers have been continuously facing tremendous pressure since last one year due to low offtake from construction industry.

Despite challenging environment, primary producer like JSW Steel is going to setup a new rebar mill with annual capacity of 1.4 MnT at Dolvi, Maharashtra in coming months amid expected increase in domestic demand. It will cater to western India, mostly to Maharashtra and few parts of Gujarat.
