Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports edge up by 2% y-o-y in Jan’25

In Jan’25, Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports rose by 2% y-o-y totaling 1.81 million tons (mnt), compared to 1.15 mnt in Jan’24. However, imports decreased by 6.4% m-o-m from 1.94 mnt in Dec. Indonesia remained the leading supplier, accounting for 1.60 mnt, followed by South Africa with 0.15 mnt and Australia with 0.06 mnt, indicating consistent demand in the market.
