Bangladesh: Thermal coal imports rise over 40% m-o-m in May’25

Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports stood at 1.53 mnt in May’25, registering a significant 42% m-o-m rise from 1.08 mnt in April. Imports rose by 25.4% y-o-y, compared to 1.22 mnt in May’24. Indonesia had 97% share in Bangladesh’s non-coking coal imports and remained the top supplier by shipping 1.48 mnt in May.
