Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports were recorded at 1.40 mnt in Jan’24, dropped by 40% m-o-m compared to 2.32 mnt in Dec’23. Indonesia was the largest exporter at 0.80 mnt (dropped by 57% m-o-m) in Jan’24 as against 1.85 mnt in Dec’23, followed by South Africa at 0.22 mnt in Jan’24 compared to 0.11 mnt in Dec’23. Shipments to the US stood at 0.06 mnt in the month under review.
