Bangladesh: Coal imports rise sharply by 50% m-o-m in June

Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports recorded a whopping 50% m-o-m rise to 0.48 mnt in June, CoalMint data showed. Utilities switched to coal for power generation amid elevated LNG prices which weighed on its imports. The entire coal import volumes in June were from Indonesia. The share of South African imports into the country has reduced amid elevated prices.
