After falling sharply in Jul’22, Bangladesh’s coal imports rose 68% m-o-m to 440,000 t in Aug, CoalMint data shows. Shipments were mainly from Indonesia and South Africa last month. Rising domestic power demand and stable Indonesian coal prices incentivised imports, which rose to 392,206 t, rising 50% m-o-m. After a two-month gap, imports from South Africa were recorded at 47,398 t last month.
