Bangladesh: Coal Imports Resume After Rainy Season Getting Over

After a lull of two months, coal imports have resumed in Bangladesh as industrial activities restarted after the rainy season getting almost over.

In Aug’17, the nation had imported around 0.10 MnT of coal after zero imports during the preceding months of July and Jun.

Exploring the underlying factor for resumption of coal imports in that country, CoalMint spoke to a reputed market participant in Bangladesh; who said,” Coal imports have re-commenced as the rainy season is now over; and brick makers are back to work.” Commenting on the future import scenario, he said,” Imports of coal will increase from now on as industrial activities peak during the Sep-Mar period every year.”
