Bangladesh: Coal imports decline by over 45% in July

Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports recorded a whopping 46% m-o-m decline to 0.26 mnt in July, CoalMint data showed. Amid elevated global prices, the country has been importing only from Indonesia over the last two months. Meanwhile, there have been frequent power outages in several parts of the country as the government tries to keep rising fuel costs within its range while strengthening US dollar has made imports costlier.
