Bangladesh: Bulk scrap import volumes rise sharply in Apr’21 on active restocking

Bulk ferrous scrap imports in Bangladesh were recorded at 0.3 mn t in Apr’21, as against 0.16 mn t in Mar’21. Imports have risen sharply by 88% on m-o-m basis, as per vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint. USA, Japan and New Zealand were the major scrap suppliers to Bangladesh in Apr’21. The mills remained active in restocking scrap cargoes ahead of the Ramadan holidays resulting in increased imports.
