Bangladesh: Bulk ferrous scrap imports plummet by 52% m-o-m in Feb’23

Bulk ferrous scrap imports into Bangladesh plummeted by 52% m-o-m to 89,075 t in Feb’23 as compared to 185,744 t in Jan’23.
Imports fell by 53% y-o-y from 1,88,131 t in Feb’22.
The US was the top exporter at 35,200 t, followed by Australia at 31,875 t and Japan at 22,000 t in Feb’23.
Banks’ restriction on opening LCs raised import costs. Hence, imports of bulk scrap dropped.
