Baltic index slips as Capesize rates weaken on dull iron ore demand

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index dropped by 35 points d-o-d on 23 Oct’25 to 2,057. The index fell as China’s steel mills limited iron ore imports due to production curbs, high inventories, or weak steel margins.

  • Capesize: The BCI decreased by 100 points to 3,059.
  • Panamax: The BPI rose by 20 points to 1,924.
  • Supramax: The BSI dropped by 19 points to 1,378.
