Baltic dry index slides on weaker Capesize demand

The Baltic Dry Index decreased by 1.5% (28 points) to 1,895 points on 9 Feb’26 against 7 Feb amid weaker Capesize demand and softer iron ore cargo flows, partially offset by improving rates of minor bulk vessels.

• Capesize: BCI dropped by 2.9% (85 points) to 2,833.
• Panamax: BPI declined by 0.2% (4 points) to 1,648.
• Supramax: BSI increased by 0.9% (10 points) to 1,114.
