Baltic Dry Index rises d-o-d, led by strong Capesize gains

The Baltic Dry Index increased 2.4% d-o-d (46 points) to 1,972 on 12 Mar’26, mainly supported by stronger Capesize freights amid improved iron ore cargo demand and firmer vessel fixtures.

• Capesize: BCI surged by 5.7% (147 points) to 2,721.
• Panamax: BPI gained 0.2% (4 points) to 1,835.
• Supramax: BSI dropped 1.7% (22 points) to 1,290.
