Baltic Dry Index hits 2-month high on Iran tensions

The Baltic Dry Index increased by 2.2% (47 points) d-o-d to 2,187 on 2 Mar’26, standing at 2-month high as tighter vessel supply and firm iron ore and coal demand lifted rates across all segments, with Iran tensions and reduced shipments from major producers adding to the upside.

  • Capesize: BCI up by 2.5% (77 points) to 3,133.
  • Panamax: BPI gained 1.9% (37 points) to 1,979.
  • Supramax: BSI surged 1.7% (23 points) to 1,361.
